Developing Scholars Governance:
It might be useful for us to stress the ongoing control that the Developing Scholars board will have over its activities in Guatemala. The Developing Scholars board of directors will direct and approve all of Developing Scholars’ programs in Guatemala. Several of our directors are board members of Canadian public corporations and are well aware of the processes of boards and management.  We intend to exercise our board prerogatives to ensure that the goals and procedures of Developing Scholars are strictly followed.  Any arrangements will be subject to initial and annual approval by the Developing Scholars board of directors. Similarly, no significant expenditures will be made without the approval of the board.  Budgets will be prepared and approved at least on an annual basis by the board of Developing Scholars.  Since John Eby resides in Guatemala for part of each year, he will personally visit the projects, supervise the budget for Guatemalan allocations, and all other issues. John and Shelley Eby have met all of the scholarship recipients in Guatemala, and have visited San Mateo and Sacatepequez and will do so again in the future.
